7am 08/11/07 Robert Pedersen and Robb MacKenzie depart on their 700 mile bicycle trek from the Lansing, MI Capitol to Washington, D.C.
There will be a huge rally in Adrian, Michigan at 12 Noon and Robert and Robb will receive a police escort as they head into Adrian, Michigan!! Will Rep. Dudley Spade still "pass" on Michigan's families and children?
The first day will be brutal with over 160 miles of pedaling to make it to the next destination on time! This means approximately 11 hours of on bike pedaling time. This will be a test physically and mentally to complete this in the necessary time limits.
Please note we are having issues calibrating the GPS device and we hope to have it up and running by the departure time from the Lansing, MI Capitol.
Special thanks to those who have decided to volunteer and ride in the media/supply van! Let's wish Robert and Robb a safe journey!
A note from Robert Pedersen: "I was not able to say goodnight to my children last night because the phone was never picked up despite a total of 4 calls. All I wanted to do was to hear their voice before having to leave on such a long and intense journey. I do this bicycle trek for them and for all children in Michigan denied the right to be loved, guided, educated and nurtured by both fit and willing parents. I love you Ethan and Katlyn very much!! You can always count on daddy!" |
